Sri Lanka’s superstar leg spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga, has reached the top of ICC Men’s T20I Bowling rankings for the 1st time in his career.
With a career-best rating of 776 rating points, Hasaranga overtook South African chinaman Tabraiz Shamsi in ICC latest ratings released today, 3rd November 2021.
Wanindu became the only Sri Lankan bowler to top an ICC chart since 2011 when Ajantha Mendis reached the top of the T20I bowlers rankings.
The 24-year-old leggie made his T20I debut in September 2019 and since then has grown to be an exciting prospect for Sri Lanka.
This has been a splendid year for Hasaranga as he set the record for the most wickets in a calendar year by picking up 34 wickets in this year so far. He also reached 50 T20I wickets in the T20I against England at the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup, becoming the 5th fastest to the milestone.
