The rain continued to interrupt the play in the first unofficial Test match between Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Pakistan ‘A’ as the visitors took control in the rain-marred day 2 at Pallekele.
Sri Lanka resumed their first innings on 61 for 6 with overnight batsmen Suminda Lakshan (2*) and Mohammed Shiraz (0*) at the crease. The Sri Lankan pair slowly rebuilt the innings, adding 27 runs to the total in first 7 overs before Lakshan was dismissed for 17 runs by speedster Naseem Shah.

In the very next over, Shiraz, the batter at the other end, lost his wicket for just 7 runs. At 88 for 8, Vishwa Fernando and Lasith Embuldeniya met at the crease and put on a decent partnership of 31 runs for the ninth wicket.
After the dismissal of Embuldeniya, Fernando unleashed himself scoring 21 runs in 5 consecutive balls, which included 2 fours and 2 sixes. Fernando made an unbeaten 30 runs off 48 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes as Sri Lanka was eventually bowled out for 141 runs in 46 overs.
In reply, the Pakistan batters applied themselves much better with the bat compared to their counterparts and put on 70 runs for 1 wicket before rain interrupted the play in the 23rd over. Pakistan ‘A’ was trailing by 71 runs with 9 wickets in hand at stumps on day two.
