The second edition of Lanka Premier League (LPL) which was scheduled to take place in July-August, has been postponed due to the prevailing situation in the country.
Earlier, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had planned to stage the tournament from the 30th of July to the 22nd of August 2021 but with the rise in Covid-19 cases in the island, the organizers have postponed the tournament to later this year.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are now considering rescheduling the tournament for the November-December window just after the conclusion of the T20 Word Cup, SLC Vice-President Ravin Wickramaratne and Tournament Director confirmed to ThePapare.com.
Last year, the inaugural edition of the tournament proved to be a success with the participation of 5 franchises. The tournament was played behind closed doors in a strict bio-bubble in Hambantota.
