Richmond College, Galle defeated St. Anthony’s College, Kandy with ease in Tier A of the Schools U19 Division 1 Cricket Tournament while 3 other games in Tier B were also worked off today (24).

The Richmond bowlers undid the Kandians cheaply for 111 runs which they chased down with ease. Skipper Amshi de Silva held prime responsibility for wrecking the Antonian batting line up as he picked 3 wickets for 32 runs.

Bhanuka Manohara was the pick of the batting in the game as he saw his team past the line with an unbeaten 46 runs.

Maoshada Fernando of Ananda College was the standout batsman in the Tier B games today. Fernando orchestrated the chase for Ananda College as he struck 59 runs not-out while Ananda recorded a close win against Maris Stella College.

Amantha Fernando of Maris Stella College too scored a valuable half-century to give his team something to work with but wasn’t fortunate enough to end the game victorious. 

Vishwa Didulana of Moratu Maha Vidyalaya wrote the best bowling performance of the day as he picked up 3 scalps for 20 runs against St. Peter’s College. But the collective effort from the Peterites made Didulana end up on the losing side. 

St. Peter’s College registered a 29-run win against the hosting Moratu Maha Vidyalaya.

The game between St. Anthony’s College, Wattala and Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda was called off due to rain.
