Murali & co file petition; Court of appeal issues notice to SLC

Sri Lanka Cricket have been issued notice by the Court of Appeal following a petition filed by a number of prominent figures in Sri Lankan Cricket, including Spin Wizard Muttiah Muralitharan.

The petition addressed the need for the restructuring of Sri Lanka Cricket and the voting structure by which the SLC president is elected. 

Other former cricketers who joined Muralitharan are Sidath Wettimuny and Michael Tissera. Along with them were, former administrators, Ana Punchihewa, Vijaya Malalasekera, Rienzie Wijetilleke, Kushil Gunasekera and a few eminent personalities in Sri Lanka, Dinal Phillips, Justice Saleem Marsoof, Mrs. Saknthakumar, and Dr. Palitha Kohona.

Former Sri Lanka cricket administrator Mr Kushil Gunesekara said that the petition strongly calls for a change in the constitution of Sri Lanka Cricket. 

The Court of Appeal has issued notice to the Sri Lanka Cricket chairman, the executive committee and the Minister of Sports Namal Rajapaksa to appear before courts on 15th of March 2021.
