Akram Khan the Chairman of BCB Cricket Operations told media today that the Sri Lankan cricket team will be arriving in Bangladesh in May for a three-match ODI series.

The ODI series will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League 2020-22 and 30 points will be allocated, with each match being assigned 10 points.

Akram also mentioned that the postponed Test series between the two sides still stands confirmed and the discussions regarding this three-match ODI series commenced only after that.

”We are expected to visit Sri Lanka earlier or later (for playing the Test series that was postponed earlier) but the date is yet to be finalized,” Akram said.

Sri Lanka’s last white ball series was played against West Indies in February last year and have only been playing Test Cricket since then, as the two limited over series against India and South Africa were postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Therefore, Sri Lanka Cricket team is yet to play an ODI match under newly proposed ICC Cricket World Cup Super League 2020-22 which provides the pathway to qualify for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 which will be held in India.
