Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has signed with the Kandy Tuskers franchise for the upcoming Lankan Premier League Tournament.

The southpaw has not played competitive T20 cricket since February 2019 when he last turned up for Jammu and Kashmir in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. “I am definitely looking forward to this,” the 36-year-old told ESPNcricinfo. “Yes, I had retired from T20 cricket, but I can play around the world and hopefully I will be able to have fun with my game as well, which I didn’t have for the last two years. I think I can still play some, but I will start slowly and see how this goes, and then I will take it forward.”

Irfan has played 177 T20s around the world representing several teams including IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Rising Pune Supergiants and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Now, he will be joining a host of stars like Chris Gayle, Liam Plunkett, Wahab Riaz and Kusal Perera in the Kandy Tuskers camp.

With a few global stars – Andre Russell, Faf du Plessis, David Miller and Dawid Malan – pulling out of the tournament, Pathan will definitely bring some excitement to the inaugural LPL. His experience will be very vital for the Kandy Tuskers team who will be led by Kusal Perera.

The tournament is set to begin on 21st of November and will run till 13th of December.
