Seven games of the SLC Premier League Tournament 2019/20 were played today, 16th August 2020.

Super Eight round matches

Crushing the opponents with batting brilliance in the last game, Colts CC has slipped to 183 runs all-out in their ongoing game against Ragama CC. Left-arm spinner Shashika Dulshan was the main wrecker for Colts CC as the former Sri Lanka Youth cricketer picked up 6 wickets for 45 runs. Ragama CC added 190 more runs to their lead with half-centuries from both Lahiru Thirimanne and Roshen Silva. 

Bhanuka slams 82-ball hundred; Ashian Daniel proves worthy on debut

Saracens SC stumbled early on the second day of the game as they were bundled out for 183 runs by CCC in the first session. CCC made up for their disappointing first-innings performance with 307 runs on board on day-two. Lasith Abeyratne shined with 88 runs to his name. Kasun Rajitha extended his wickets tally to a 9 wickets

In the NCC-BRC game, Lahiru Udara kept up his consistency to hold the top position in the most-runs list. The wicket-keeper batsman followed up his century in the previous match with an immensely valuable 90 runs to keep NCC in the contention. He was well supported by the all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne who also missed out on a hundred by 7 runs.  NCC went down for 275 runs, replying to the 316 BRC made in the first-innings. Duvindu Tillakaratne was the pick of the bowlers for BRC. The left-arm spinner bagged 6 for 63.

NCC seamers Lahiru Kumara and Dilesh Gunaratne threw in a fiery spell as they undid the BRC top 5 for just 17 runs. 

Thanks to some gritty batting from the three national caps in the Army SC team, they posted 216 runs for their first-innings against Chilaw Marians CC. Chandimal followed up his century in the last game with a fighting 63 runs. Seamer Asitha Fernando topped the bowling card with figures of 4 for 71.

Chilaw Marians CC were in trouble at 85 for 5 by stumps.

In the three plate championship matches that began today, Tamil Union C&AC undid Moors SC for just 206 runs, SSC posted a competitive 332 runs for the first-innings and Badureliya SC were just afloat with 267 runs for the first-innings. 

In the Moors-Tamils game, Dhananjaya de Silva was the star with the ball as the all-rounder recorded his career-best first-class figures of 7 for 59 runs. 

Tharanga, Lahiru, Kamindu & Santhush stroke tons

Dasun Shanaka scored a fine century to give SSC a firm grip in the game. He received good assistance from the top order as all contributed with considerable performances. Sammu Ashan was the next best run-scorer with 54 runs to his name.

Salinda Ushan and Dunith Jayathunga scored twin fifties at the top of the order for Badureliya CC. Left-arm spinner Upul Indrasiri bagged a fifer for Negombo CC.
