Saabir Cader, who played an integral part in revolutionising Sri Lanka’s rugby through ThePapare.com, is now set to rub shoulders with international rugby legends at Elite Player Management (EPM) as their ‘Media and Commercial Consultant’.
Global sports management company, EPM, has many icons under their wing in the likes of Wallaby legend and World cup winner David Campese, Cecil Africa (South Africa 7s), Mike Te’o (USA), Laurence Finn (Co Founder Nelson Mandela Bay 7s), Tom Varndell (former England 7s/XVs) and Matt Bressons, the former Italian International who is the founder and CEO of EPM.
Former Zahira College 7s Captain, Saabir, was once was the face of rugby coverage in Sri Lanka with his in-depth rugby analysis show Back to the Board, followed by fans and players alike. When the Sri Lanka U20 sevens team made history by winning the Asian Rugby Sevens crown in 2016 it was Saabir who did the live streaming all the way from Malaysia (1st leg) and Hong Kong (2nd leg) which allowed all the Sri Lankan fans to witness a historic moment.
His contribution to national sports didn’t stop at Rugby – Saabir was the unsung hero during the Youth Olympic Games 2018 for it was his digital updates from Buenos Aires that kept 22 million Sri Lankans alive when Parami Wasanthi won the historical bronze medal in Argentina.
Completing his BA (Hons) in Sports Management and Rugby Studies at Buckinghamshire New University (UK) 2009 – 2013 , Saabir gained a great deal of exposure with the Wasps (English Club Rugby Team) and England Rugby from community coaching to working at six nations and London 7s at the home of English rugby, Twickenham.
He recently completed an International Business (Top-up) degree at Coventry University where he was nominated as the student of the year whilst winning the Leadership Gold Award. Furthermore, he launched his rugby analysis YouTube channel where he has hosted the likes of Tom Varndell (former England 7s/XVs), Guy Thompson (Leicester Tigers) and Matt Dawson (England 2003 RWC winner).
