The Limited Over Pre-Quarter Final Play-Off between Ananda College and St. Thomas College and three traditional encounters of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Two Day Cricket Tournament 2019/20 were played today across the island.
Ananda College, Colombo vs S. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia
St. Thomas College managed to qualify for the Pre-Quarter Final of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Limited Over Cricket Tournament as they defeated Ananda College today at Mount Lavinia. After winning the toss, the visiting skipper chose to bat first but put on only 176 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Kanishka Ranthilakage (42) and Maoshada Fernando (35*) starred with the bat for the visitors. The left-arm seamer Shamilka Wickramatilake picked up 3 wickets while Shehan Silva and Anuk Palihawadane impressed with the ball taking 2 wickets each for the hosts.
Chasing a modest total of 177 runs to win, the hosts also struggled with the bat but somehow managed to go past the target in 45.3 overs with 4 wickets remaining. Mohammad Ishaq guided the Thomians to victory scoring a classy half-century.

The traditional encounter between Maliyadeva College and Dharmaraja College ended in a draw today at Dharmaraja College Grounds in Kandy. After being 102 runs for 4 wickets overnight, the hosts posted 309 runs for 9 wickets before declaring the innings in the 77th over.

Yasitha Samararathne was the chief contributor with the bat as he made 68 runs while Chethiya Ekanayake (49), Janith Gunathunge (48) and Dulaj Bandara (47) chipped in with useful contributions. Oshanda Jayawikrama picked up 4 scalps for 39 for the lads from Kurunegala.
The visitors began their second innings 114 runs behind and posted 141 runs for 5 wickets when umpires called stumps on day two. Amesh Thennakon (46) and Ishara Munasinghe (33) did well with the bat for the lads from Kurunegala.
