The Disciplinary committee of the Dialog Club Rugby League has chosen to hand a one match ban to Kandy’s Jason Dissanayake, CR & FC’s Sharo Fernando and Army’s Sudaraka Dikkumbura, after an inquiry held last Wednesday.
Sharo was sent to the sin bin in the 28th minute of CR’s game against Army at Welisara last week, as a result of an infringement made at a breakdown. However, on his return to the field, despite the continuous warnings, in the 45th minute Sharo was once again caught hanging, earning his 2nd Yellow card for the game followed by the red as a result of his continuous encroachments, leaving CR with only 14 men for the rest of the game.

In any case, it is noteworthy that Sharo has been a frequent visitor to the bin, as he was suspended for one match earlier this season in the wake of accumulating three yellow cards. Coming about this, Sharo will be compelled to sit out for one more match again this week, as CR take on Kandy at Nittawela, with aims of securing their spot at 2nd place.
In the meantime, Kandy will not have the services of one of their key third row forward, Jason Dissanayake as they take on CR this Sunday, as he earned his 3rd consecutive yellow card by fending off a player for the second time in the game against Navy at Welisara last week. Dissanayake has been a great asset for Kandy, scoring 9 tries this season, only second to Janidu Dilshan’s 13.

Meanwhile, winger Sudaraka Dikkumbura has also been suspended for Army’s next match against Police this weekend. The citing officers handed Dikkumbura his 3rd consecutive yellow card last week, resulting in him having to sit out for one match as per the laws of the game.
