Ananda College put them on course towards another outright victory by completely dominating the opening days proceedings of their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against Wesley College which commenced at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.
The Wesleyites electing to bat first after winning the toss were skittle out for a mere 98 runs in their first innings with the spin duo of Sandaken Pathirana and Kasun Perera causing most of the damage.
The two most experienced bowlers in the Ananda side played havoc with the Wesley batting while capturing wickets at regular intervals through some penetrative bowling.
The Anandians then made certain that they consolidated their position with a solid batting performance by reaching an impressive 134 for 2 wickets having already built up a good first innings lead.
Opener Lakshan Jayasekera led the way with a splendid half century and was well supported by skipper Thamalaka Athulathmudali.
Wesley: 98 (Sandaken Pathirana 4/37, Kasun Perera 2/7)
Ananda: 134-2 (Lakshan Jayasekera 53, Thamalaka Athulathmudali 36)
