Nugegoda Sports & Welfare Club beat Kalutara Town Club by 119 runs to register their first win of the season, amidst a host of heavy scoring fixtures.
The Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club who were bowled out cheaply for 56 runs in their first inning, bounced back hard to showcase a gutsy win off their very first match of the season. After being bowled out for 56, Nugegoda S & WC were able to limit the Kalutura Town Club first inning to just 160 runs. Nugegoda S & WC then put on a more than par score of 307 runs for their second inning, giving KTC a target of 203 runs to chase. Pramud Hettiwatte top-scored with 84 runs, while Asantha Basnayaka made a quickfire 52 runs coming down the order. Nugegoda S & WC bowlers staged a shocking show to win the match by rattling out KTC for just 84 runs for their second inning. Pasindu Madhushan and Matheesha Perera bagged 3 wickets each, while Bait Ali picked 2. Nugegoda S & WC won the match by 119 runs.

Umesh Karunarathne’s well-crafted century guided Panadura Sports Club back on track in their encounter against Kandy Customs Sports Club. After being bowled out for 177 in their first inning, Panadura SC managed to limit the Kandy CSC first inning for 190 runs, which did not worry them much in terms of a lead. Azhar Attari (4/51) & Chalana De Silva (4/62) picked 4 wickets each to help the cause. Panadura SC had a courageous comeback led by Karunarathne (114) and Raju Gayashan (61). Panadura SC were 331/9 at stumps with Sachithra Perera and Umega Chaturanga ending the day with figures of 4 for 107 and 4 for 109 respectively.
The Sri Lanka Ports Authority continued their steady accumulation of runs from day 1 in their fixture with Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club, before they were eventually bowled out only after posting a mammoth 496 runs. Saeed Bin Nasir remained the top scorer for SLPA with 121 runs, while Gayan Sirisoma (5/156) picked up yet another five-fer to his name. Bloomfield in return were at 221/6 at close of play with Harsha Vithana(73*) and Madhushan Ravichandrakumar(34*) stitching a healthy partnership between the duo. Chanaka Komasaru was the pick of the bowlers for SLPA with figures of 4 for 68.
Navy Sports Club managed only 290 Runs for their first inning against the Police Sports Club, who had posted 357 for their first inning on day 1. Tharusha Fernando was unbeaten on 78 before he ran out of support from the other end. Lahiru Diyantha ended the day with figures of 4 for 92 runs. Policemen were 61/4 at stumps on day 2.
In reply to the 317 made by Airforce Sports Club for their first inning, Kurunegala youth were 335/5 at close of play for day 2. Kurunegala Youth inning was led by Zain Abbas, who top scored with a scintillating century on his very first outing of the season. Malinga Maligaspe (98) found himself unfortunate to fall 2 runs short of what would have been a well-made century. Ravindu Sembukuttige showed his all-round abilities by picking up 3 for 78 runs after scoring a useful 67 in the first inning. Kurunegala YCC were well poised to post a huge first inning total with two set batsmen at the crease.
