It will be an exciting year coming up for the Asian region as the regional body released their calendar for the upcoming key tournaments and events for 2020. 

Sri Lanka had a disappointing 2019 in the international circuit after the side failed to make the top 3 in the Asia Sevens Series while the nation was absent in a majority of the tournaments. 

In comparison to 2018, Sri Lanka re-ignited their fifteens programme, marking their entry back to the Asia Rugby Division I Championship. A young team fielded a strong fifteens outfit but did not end up on the winning side. Therefore the team will spend another year in the Asia Division I that will be played in May this year.

After gaining promotion to the top division, the Junior Tuskers will now once again play in the top tier in December, where they will be joined by Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong and Korea. 

Meanwhile the Asia Sevens Series will come alive in Colombo on the 26th and 27th of September with Sri Lanka playing hosts for the sevens finale until 2021.
