David Warner hit his maiden T20I century as Australia registered a massive 134-run win over Sri Lanka in the first T20I match played at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

After being sent into bat on a belter of a surface, Australia brutalized the lackluster Lankan bowlers to register the highest ever T20I score on Australian soil – 233 for 2 in 20 overs.
Sri Lanka, was never in it as they ended on 99 for 9 as none of the batsmen found any respite from the Australian bowling attack. The defeat was Sri Lanka’s heaviest in T20Is in terms of runs as well as Australia’s biggest in the shortest format of the game.

Opening the batting in a T20 International for Australia after a lapse of 18 months, Warner and skipper Aaron Finch attacked the hapless Lankan seamers from the word go to smash 57 in the powerplay.
They added 122 runs for the first wicket before Finch fell while trying to slog-sweep Lakshan Sandakan. Earlier, Finch brought up his fifty in 31 balls, courtesy the third six of his knock.
Warner, who shifted into complete attack mode after Finch departed, launched an assault along with Glenn Maxwell as they took the game beyond Sri Lanka’s control.
Maxwell, devastating as always, played strokes all around the park – slog-sweeping, reverse-sweeping to reach his fifty in just 22 balls. He went onto score 62 at an amazing strike-rate of 221 before perishing in the final over, delivered by Dasun Shanaka, who had not bowled before in the innings.

Warner reached three-figures in the last ball of the innings to return to form, following a failed Ashes campaign becoming the fourth Australian to score a T20I century.
Right-arm seamer Kasun Rajitha, leaked 75 runs from his 4 overs to become the most expensive bowler in T20I cricket.
As the chase commenced, Kusal Mendis, coming into the side after a leg injury during the New Zealand series, tried hooking Mitchell Starc and fell by giving a leading edge before even commencing his account.

Pat Cummins struck two in two by removing Danushka Gunathilaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa in consecutive deliveries as the visitors were 3 down for just 13 runs in only the fourth over.
From there onwards, the chase went nowhere as rest of the batsmen – Oshada Fernando, Kusal Perera and Dasun Shanaka struggled to pose some sort of fight. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa ripped through the tail to end with 3 for 14 from his 4 overs.
Australia lead the three-match series, 1-0. The teams will now move to Brisbane for the second T20I on the 30th of October.
