The Sri Lanka paddlers Men’s and Women’s Teams performed well, finishing in the top 8 at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Indoor Stadium, India, on day 3 of the Odisha 2019 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship.

Men’s Team
The Men’s team had so many opportunities to win the match, but unable to win the play-off match they went down to Australia.
Vs. Australia (Pay off for the 7/8 Match Position)
In the opening singles, 5 set thriller match won by the Hu Heming against Nirmala Jayasinghe 12/10, 08/11, 08/11, 11/08, 11/05. In the second singles, Power David overcame Krishan Wickramarathne, as the scores read 11/05, 12/10, 11/06.
In the third singles, Chambers Dillon beat Rohan Sirisena 11/06, 05/11, 11/08, 11/04 as Australia won the encounter 3-0.

Women’s Team Performance
The Women’s team had even worse luck, unable to win the play-off match they went down to Wales.
Vs. Wales (Pay off for the 7/8 Match Position)
In the opening singles, Hursey Anna beat Ishara Madurangi 11/05, 11/05, 14/12 to give Wales the lead. It was much of the same in the 2nd and 3rd singles as Carey Chariotte beat Bimandee Bandara 06/11, 11/ 06, 11/ 03, 11/02 and Whitton Lara beat Chamathsara Fernando 11/03, 11/08, 08/11, 11/04. Wales won the tie 3-0.
