The Sri Lanka Golf LECTRA Grand Prix June edition conducted by the Sri Lanka Golf Union, got underway at the beautiful Nuwara Eliya Golf Club Course nestled within the Nuwara Eliya town and concluded with B.A.Sanjeewa being victorious after a closely contested battle for first place.

Leading overnight B.A.Sanjeewa continued his consistency returning a 1 under par 70 in the final round to clinch victory in the Sri Lanka Golf LECTRA Grand Prix 2019 – June Edition at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club Course. 

The closely contested June Edition, had an unexpected turn of events with Amarapadma one stroke behind Sanjeewa and local golfer Vinoth Kumar a further one stroke behind playing in the final flight Sanjeewa holding his nerve and Vinoth Kumar carding a 77 whilst Amarapadma was disqualified on a technicality in the crucial final round.

As a result Sanjeewa won by a comfortable nine strokes from Chanaka Perera the reigning Amateur Champion, with Vinoth Kumar of the NEGC taking 3rd place one stroke behind the Runner-up. 

The overall LECTRA Grand Prix Ranking Leader after the May Edition, Sisira Kumara, finished in 4th place, followed by Januka Dilshan the former Captain of the Sri Lanka Junior Golf Team, who has now graduated to the senior ranks.

A competitive field of 40 players, including juniors and National Squad players took part in the three day tournament which was held in Nuwara Eliya, they were later pruned after the second round, and cut down to the top 20 golfers of the tournament to progress further according to the rankings.

The LECTRA Grand Prix Monthly Tournament scores are counted for the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) which is monitored by R&A the governing body of World Golf, providing an international Ranking to all Amateurs in the Asia Pacific region.
