The 8th Battle of the Golden Lions between Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya and Rahula College, Matara ended in a draw today at P. Sara Oval Cricket Grounds in Colombo.

After winning the toss, the Dharmapala College skipper opted to bat first and posted 378 runs for 5 wickets before declaring the innings in the 71st over. Chamindu Samarasinghe scored a magnificent century (104) while Amila Dayanka stroked 69 runs for Dharmapala College.
Rahula College also replied strongly with the bat but fell short by 48 runs as they were bowled out for 330 in 96.1 overs. Sasith Manuranga’s brilliant century (141) stood out from the rest while Tharindu Rajapakshe unfortunately missed out a century as he was dismissed for 97 runs.

Sanchana Lanka and Kavinda Nishan picked up 3 wickets each for the lads from Pannipitiya. Dharmapala College began their second innings 48 runs ahead and posted 44 runs for 2 wickets at the close of play on day two.
