A team comprised of some of the stars who played their rugby in the commercial city will form a team named ‘Colombo Origins’ and take on an opposition combined with players from the Hill Capital and other regions of the country, all for a good cause.

Local Rugby legend, Fitness Trainer, Sports enthusiast, Journalist and commentator, Chandrishan Perera, was taken ill late last year, but if you know ‘Shan’ you know that nothing can keep him down and his friends, supporters and well-wishers have planned this encounter to raise him up and keep him strong at this difficult time.

After carrying the nation’s flag high in the field of rugby, Shan became a selector for Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) and helped develop the sport in numerous ways rendering his services and expertise during his tenure. However, returning the favour this time, SLR has organized a Rugby match with the hopes of aiding Chandrishan Perera in his bid to recover from illness.

The planned Rugby encounter will be between the ‘Colombo Origins vs. Rest of the country’, a concept introduced by ThePapare.com’s very own Boa Athu. The said match is set to be played on the 6th of April at Havelock Park, under lights.

This encounter will also act as trial for all the players who are looking for a shot at donning the National jersey in the upcoming Asia Rugby Championship.
