Former Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Secretary Mohan De Silva and Assistant Secretary Ravin Wickramaratne will not be able to contest in the upcoming SLC Elections which is scheduled to take place on the 21st of this month (February).

The much-anticipated Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Elections have been rescheduled once..
Appeals against six names, including that of De Silva and Wickramaratne, were lodged to the Election Committee following the deadline (07/12/2018), once handing over nominations was over.
Presidency-nominees Jayantha Dharmadasa and Shammi Silva, Secretary-nominee Bandula Dissanayake and nominee for Assistant treasurer Lalith Rambukwella, the other 4 candidates against whom the appeals were lodged, have been cleared to contest for their respective positions.
With the rejection of De Silva’s nomination, the 4-man tussle for the top post has been reduced to a 3-man contest between Dharmadasa, Silva and K. Mathivanan. Apart from the presidency, De Silva was also shortlisted for the Vice-president and Secretary posts while Wickramaratne’s name was shortlisted for the posts of Vice-president, Treasurer and his post in the previous tenure Assistant Secretary.

The rejection of the nominations submitted by De Silva and Wickramaratne was officially announced via a Media Release signed by Secretary of the Sports Ministry and Competent Authority of Sri Lanka Cricket, W.A. Chulananda Perera.
The decision has been taken by the minister as per the recommendations of a 3-member committee appointed to investigate the allegations. The committee headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Nimal Dissanayake, comprised of retired Supreme Court Judge Devika Tennekoon and retired Deputy Director of Sri Lanka Customs Dharmasena Kahandawa.
