The runners-up of the league last year, Navy Sports Club has been an undisputed force in the local rugby scene.
In a bid to uplift the standards of rugby and to empower the development of the sport within the Navy, Hutch will join hands for this season.
Speaking at the press briefing held to announce the sponsorship, Chief Executive Officer for Hutch Sri Lanka Thirukumar Nadarasa added that Navy Rugby’s principles coincide with that of Hutch.

Navy has been one of the oldest playing teams and we are glad to have come aboard”
The league title winners from 2013/14, Navy Sports Club has enjoyed plenty success in the recent past.
“We are glad to see that Navy Rugby team has achieved tremendous success. In the 2013/14 season, we were League and Clifford Cup winners. In the next year we were 3rd according to the points table” added the Chief of Staff Real Admiral Piyal Silva speaking on Navy’s success over the few years.
The sponsorship will be for the men’s and women’s teams and will be for a period of one year. However, Nadarasa hinted that this partnership could continue in the coming years as well.a
