Three games of the Singer U19 Division I Tournament were worked off today. Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala hosted Ananda College, Colombo while Lumbini College, Colombo played their second game at a trot against Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda. The game between St. Anne’s College, Kurunegala and St. Thomas’ College, Matara also got underway today in Kurunegala.
Lumbini College, Colombo vs Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda
Lumbini College, Colombo won the toss and elected to field first at BRC Grounds, Colombo. Dharmasoka College managed 188 runs for their first innings. Abheeth Chandragupta top-scored with 37 runs while in-form Ravishka Wijesiri followed his fifer in the last game with another 4 wickets in this game.

Batting was yet another misery for Lumbini as the top order collapsed cheaply while some late remedy took them to 165 runs in their first-innings. It was Ravishka Wijesiri again who came to Lumbini’s rescue with a top-score of 52 runs while Dinula Dilshan and Aroshana de Soyza picked 3 scalps each.
Aroshana de Soyza led the batting for Dharmasoka in the second-innings as he hit a match-winning hundred which took Dharmasoka to a commanding position in the game. Shavinda Gamalath was the pick of the bowling for Lumbini with his figures of 4 for 54 runs.
Lumbini College struggled to get their act together once again as they were bowled out for 117 runs. Skipper Dushan Fernando top-scored for Lumbini College with 54 runs while Dinuka Dilshan struck with the ball once again with four wickets to his name.

Maliyadeva College came out to bat first as the Ananda skipper won the toss and opted otherwise. Sri Lanka U19 cap, Muditha Premadasa put his hands up for his school right away as he scored 91 runs for Maliyadeva. Maliyadeva College scored 250 runs for the loss of 9 wickets and declared their innings. Lakshitha Amarasekara was the pick of the bowlers for Ananda College for his 3 for 69.

In reply, Ananda College lost two quick wickets at the start of their innings and made 33 runs by close of play on day-one. Kalana Wijesiri steadied the ship for Ananda as his patient 72 took Ananda College to a respectable 202 runs. Kaveen Bandara of Maliyadeva College picked up 4 wickets for 39 runs.
Maliyadeva added 64 runs to their tally in the second-innings when the game was called to draw.

St. Thomas’ College, Matara won the toss and elected to field first. Accordingly, St. Anne’s College were in all sorts of trouble as they were uprooted for just 90 runs in their first innings. Sineth Sithara and Sachira Rashmika caused havoc in the batting line-up of St. Anne’s College as they shared 6 wickets in between them.

St. Thomas’ College also produced another low-scorer in the game as they were struggling at 93 for 8 by the end of day-one. Pasindu Tennakoon picked up 3 wickets for 18 runs.
