S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia won first-innings points over St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa in their tournament fixture of the Singer U19 Division One Cricket Tournament 2018/19. St. Anthony’s College, Wattala played with St. Sebastian’s College, Katuneriya while De Mazenod College, Kandana and Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda ended their game in a draw.

S. Thomas’ College won the toss and elected to bat first. They frustrated the visitors and scored a massive 328 runs after batting the whole day one. Shalin de Mel batted brilliantly as he made a crafty 136-runs to put S. Thomas’ on top. Ravindu Fernando also looked good with the bat as he scored 67 runs to support the cause. Praveen Cooray was the pick of the bowlers for his 4 for 71 while Thadula de Silva and Vinuja Ranasinghe both picked 3 wickets each.

S. Thomas’ declared the batting this morning and St. Sebastian’s started off the day at the crease. Skipper, Nuwanidu Fernando fought alone in both innings for St. Sebastian’s with 52 and 58* runs respectively, although all his efforts were for no good use. St. Sebastian’s were bowled out in the first-innings for 165-runs and were forced to follow-on and were at 143 runs for 3 wickets in the second innings when the umpires called it time.

St. Sebastian’s College Katuneriya won the toss and invited St. Anthony’s College to bat first. The latest addition to the Sri Lanka U19 team, Avishka Tharindu led the batting for St. Anthony’s as he hit an unbeaten 102-runs to take his team to a comfortable position in the game. Arindha Pasindu was also equally good with bat as he remained on 81 at the end of the day. St. Anthony’s College was at 248 runs for the loss of 5 wicket by close of play.

Dharmasoka College who batted first, scored 213-runs for their first innings. Sasindu Malshan top-scored for Dharmasoka with 58-runs while Sanula Gunarathna made 50. Mark Mathiasz was the pick of the bowlers for his wonderful figures of 6 for 48.

In reply, De Mazenod College managed only 199-runs. Pasindu Rajamunindra scored 53-runs for De Mazenod College while Mark Mathiasz contributed with 33-runs.

Dharmasoka College added another 880-runs to their tally for the loss of 6 wickets in their second-innings. The game was called a draw while Dharmasoka College departed with first-innings points.
