Vice president of SLSCA, Kapila Jayalath passes away

Mr Kapila Jayalath, vice president of Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association, passed away today (16th November 2018) after suffering a stroke.

Mr. Jayalath was hospitalised for a clot in the brain on the 29th of October 2018. After over 2 weeks of treatment, Mr. Jayalath, unfortunately, passed away at the hospital.

Mr. Jayalath was a former Secretary of the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and the present vice president of the Association. He was a generous school teacher in the southern region. Mr.Jayalath has served at Gamini National School, Bentota, Sri Devananda College, Ambalangoda and Karandeniya Central College. He was largely involved in schools cricket and was the master in charge of Karandeniya Central College.

Mr. Jayalath also was a part of the Association of Cricket Umpires in Sri Lanka and went on to become the general secretary of the association. He acted in several roles schools cricket arena including umpiring and commentating.

A very good administrator and a support to Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and also to the players who were within his reach.

The remains of Mr. Jayalath will be at his residence in Heppumulla, Ambalngoda. The funeral will be held at the public cemetery, Ambalangoda on Sunday (18th November) at 5.00 .p.m
