Ceylon Electricity Board v MAS Leisureline – 1st Semi Final (Men’s Super League)
Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) defeated MAS Leisureline (MASL) 3-2 in the semi-final of the Men’s Super League of the Munchee National Volleyball Championship 2018 at the National Youth Services Council Indoor Stadium, Maharagama.
Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) took an early lead and at one point was leading by 10-points. MAS Leisureline made a minor comeback but lost the 1st set 25-17.
MAS Leisureline got off to a good start in the 2nd set taking a three-point lead. Both sides matched each other point for point thereafter. However, midway through the set the experience of CEB showed as they took and extended the lead rapidly to win the set 25-16.
Like in the 2nd set MAS Leisureline took the opening two-points. Scores were kept close and was deadlocked at 17-17. CEB took a 3-point lead at 20-17 but MASL stormed back scoring 4 unanswered points to make it 20-21. MASL added another two but CEB equalized at 24-24. However, it was MASL who took an enthralling set 27-29.

With momentum on their side MASL took a 1-5 lead in the 4th set. The only time CEB came close was at 11-13 but MASL kept their composure to make it 11-16 and finally won the set 18-25.
In the deciding 5th set, CEB – who had a host of national players got off the blocks early at 4-1. They never gave any opportunity to MASL as they won the 5th set 15-9 booking a place in the Men’s Super League final.
Army SC v Sri Lanka Ports Authority – 2nd Semi Final (Men’s Super League)
Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) defeated Army SC 3-1 in the semi-final of the Men’s Super League of the Munchee National Volleyball Championship 2018 at the National Youth Services Council Indoor Stadium, Maharagama.
The first set was a close encounter with the scores reading 10-10. SLPA went on a 4-0 run to make it 14-10. After 18-14 Army came back to score three more points but SLPA managed to maintain their slender lead and win the set 25-23.

The 2nd set too was tightly contested but midway through it was SLPA who took a three-point lead at 12-9. Army once again fought back to equalize at 21-21 and after a back and forth last few points it was SLPA who won 28-26.
In a set they had to win, Army pulled away half way through the 3rd set making it 11-16. However, at 16-22 SLPA tried a comeback and took the score to 22-23 but Army held their own to win the set 23-25.
In the 4th set, SLPA gained a two-point lead early in the set and at one time were leading 13-9. They went on a 7-4 (20-13) run completely demoralizing the soldiers. SLPA eventually won the set 25-19 and the match.
