Yevan David the eleven year old karting hero of the Bandaragama karting series held early this year, is now looking ahead for success in Australia. His newest challenge will be the Race of Stars of the Gold Coast.

The sport of karting will return to Queensland’s Gold Coast for the first time in more than five years when the inaugural Race of Stars kicks off this month.
Yevan David is teamed up with another Singapore driver Jayden Jin to compete in the event. Having competed throughout Asia, Australia and Europe over the past couple of years, the pair will line up at the invitational event this month.
The event will feature the three ‘Pro’ categories of Australian karting, divided into Pro Gearbox (KZ2), Pro Light (KF) and Pro Junior (KFJ) as well as another three state-based classes TaG 125cc, Junior National and Cadets along with a ProAm race. Yevan will be taking part in the junior category.
Each category will have a maximum of 28 starters on the grid which is the same number of competitors in the 2013 V8 Supercars Championship with the top 20 drivers of the CIK Stars of Karting standings to receive the first invitations for their respective categories.
Yevan’s ability to maneuver the kart is way beyond his years and his skills will never allow you to believe he’s just 11 years old. His ability to strike in that split second and seize the opportunity, taking risks makes him a more composed driver than what his age would have you believe. The large crowds present earlier this year got behind the little driver admiring his patience and astute awareness as he made those bends, racing past his fellow mates.
Yevan, who was crowned the South East Champion in 2017, showed plenty of excitement about racing on one of the fastest karting circuits in the World which is a challenge that he’s really looking forward to overcoming.
“I’ve heard a lot about the Race of Stars event and the Gold Coast, but this will be the first time that I’ve had the opportunity to compete at the event. The track is super-fast, it will be the fastest that I’ve ever done in a kart. I think we’ll hit around 100 km/h, it’s going to be great. I’ve raced a few times in Australia this year and the competition here rates as high as when I went to race in Italy last year. There’s a lot of really good drivers in Australia.” – Yevan David
It is expected that more than 250 drivers, including numerous internationals, will be in action come the start of the event this month.
And further the Race of Stars will launch the Gold Coast into a ten-day celebration of motorsports.
