At the end of a rainy day here are results of some of the matches of the Singer Schools U13 Division 3 Cricket Tournament.
Welimada Central College vs St.Thomas College, Bandarawela
An U13 Division 3 match was played today between two out station teams at Bandarawela when Welimada Central College played against St. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela.
The home team opted to field first after winning the toss and managed to take quick wickets. Welimada Central declared their innings for just 70 runs after losing 9 wickets completing 35 overs. Lakshan Dissnayake was the top scorer scoring 25 runs. Liksha Perera grabbed half of the batting line up by taking 5 wickets for just 13 runs and Kethaka Himsara chipped in with 2 wickets for 25 runs.
Going after a small target in the first inning the Thomas Juniors scored 97 runs all out in 30 overs. Another five wicket haul in the match was seen when Naveen Kokila took 5 wickets for 29 runs. Sulakshana Weerasinghe took 3 wickets for 21 runs as well.
Batting their second innings Welimada Central was trailing by 27 runs. At the end of the day’s play Welimada Juniors scored 45 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 23 overs. Once again it was Lakshan Dissanayake who was the highest run scorer scoring 23 runs. Likasha Perera managed to take 3 wickets for 18 runs and Buddika Nisansala took 2 wickets for 15 runs.
The match ended up a draw with first innings points going to St.Thomas’ College, Bandarawela.

Trinity College, Kandy vs Poramadullah Maha Vidyalaya, Rikillagaskada
Kandy Junior Lions Trinity College played against Poramadullah Maha Vidyalaya today in the Singer Schools U13 Division 2 Segment at Poramadulla Grounds.
The home team Poramadulla MV won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. Batting their first innings Trinity College scored 173 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 40 overs and declared the inning. Virun Grero missed his half century by 01 run when he got out for 49 runs while Methama Basanayake scored 41 runs and Movindu Hansaja scored 20 runs not out. Menura Maneth was the pick of the bowlers for Poramadulla MV when he chipped in with 3 wickets for 19 runs.
Chasing a good total Poramadulla MV managed to score 146 runs only before they bowled out in 55.3 overs when umpires called the day off. Dinuja Udugampola was the highest scorer for Poramadulla MV by scoring 46 runs and Arosha Basnayake scored 24 runs. Hasitha Jayasinghe and Megiya Bandara shared four wickets between them with 2 wickets for 10 runs and 2 wickets for 24 runs respectively while Nethma Basnayake took 3 wickets for 16 runs.
The match ended up draw and first inning points gained by the Trinity Juniors.
