A media briefing was held this morning (3rd October) at the Sri Lanka Cricket premises with the participation of the Sports Ministry officials.
“First of all, I am grateful to Sri Lanka Cricket and Minister of Sports, Honorable Minister Faizer Mustapha for giving us all the facilities we need for this tour, and their continuous support. We are currently ranked 3rd in the world rankings, only India and Pakistan are above us.
We have a big need for the 2020 World Cup to be brought to Sri Lanka. However, our biggest issue right now is not having proper sponsorship.”
-Chaminda Pushpakumara,
Manager of the Sri Lanka ‘s Visually Handicapped Cricket team.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has been able to provide training facilities for the team at the Sooriyawewa Cricket stadium in Hambantota for a period of two weeks with the help of the Ministry of Sports transport facilities.
“We perform this task as a social service because these players do not have to be hidden due to their disabilities,” he said, “I am in constant contact with them and I look for their shortcomings. We are committed to providing the fullest support possible through the organization.”
