Gameweek 7 of the 2018/19 Premier League produced some upsets while other results went as expected.
Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League after a 2-0 win over Brighton that saw them eclipse Liverpool on goal difference (+18).
City also have the fixture of Chelsea v Liverpool to thank for their rise to the top as the Blues and Liverpool battled out a 1-1 draw, with Liverpool equalizing through Daniel Sturridge late. Another moment of magic by Eden Hazard gave Chelsea the lead early on, to ensure Liverpool take second while Chelsea remain at third at the end of the week.
Tottenham Hotspur moved up to 4th after a Harry Kane double saw them beat Huddersfield 2-0, resulting in the Terriers remaining at the bottom of the table. Arsenal moved up to 5th after beating Watford 2-0. Arsenal have now won 5 matches on the trot in the Premier League for the first time since August 2017. The result sees Watford drop two places to 6th.
Bournemouth overcame Crystal Palace in a 2-1 win that saw the Cherries climbed to 7th while Palace dropped down to 13th. Leicester City beat Newcastle 2-0, the latter’s 4th loss in their last 5 games, with Benitez’s men yet to register a win this season. Bournemouth climbed to 7th while Newcastle remain at 18th.
Wolves meanwhile registered their 3rd win of the season, beating Southampton 2-0, resulting in the newly promoted side moving to 9th while the Saints drop to 16th.
Manchester United took on West Ham, who came into this week with just 4 points in 6 games. Yet it was the Hammers who caused the severe upset leading 2-0 at half-time, before winning the game 3-1. This saw West Ham moving up to 14th while United dropped to 10th.
Everton defeated Fulham 3-0 to move up to 11th place while Fulham dropped to 17th. Burnley battled Cardiff in a 2-1 win, resulting in Burnley climbing to 12th while Cardiff, also yet to register their first win, remaining at 19th.
