Sri Lankan spinners’ dazzling performances guided Sri Lanka U19 side to a comfortable 10-wicket victory against the less fancied Hong Kong team in their U19 Asia Cup 2018 match in Bangladesh on Sunday.

Once again Sri Lankan skipper Nipun Dananjaya won the toss and elected to field on the same Chittagong wicket. Sri Lanka made only one change from their previous victory, Royalist Kamil Mishara came into the side at the expense of fast bowler Naveen Fernando.

As expected, the Sri Lankan bowlers were right on the money from the word go. Kalana Perera dismissed both openers for ducks before the spinners came into play. Shashika Dulshan and Dunnith Wellalage then tested the inexperienced Hong Kong side with their spin, accompanied by Kalhara  Senarathna. The Hong Kong batsmen had no reply to the Sri Lankan spin trio, as they were all dismissed for 56 runs. Except for Adit Gorawara’s 10 runs no other batsman even cross the double digit score.

Continuing his form from the  previous match, Dulshan  picked up his maiden 5 wicket haul for just 19 runs. Wellalage and Senarathna picked up 2 wickets and 1 wicket respectively.

The Sri Lankan opening pair achieved this target inside 10 overs with ease. Skipper Dananjaya scored 35 off 29 balls and guided the team to a comfortable victory.
