  • Cup Finals: CH&FC A v Navy SC A

Samuel Maduwantha kicked things off for the reigning inter club champions this year. The star studded CH&FC side did not take much time to get on the scoresheet as skipper Rohitha Rajapaksa touched down in the 2nd minute. Few moments later Anuradha Herath barged through the defences  and offloaded to Samuel Maduwantha to score their second try which was converted by Samuel himself.

The sailors needed to bounce back which they did in style when they smartly took the the quick tap and caught CH&FC by surprise to score under the post just before the half time whistle.

2nd half started off with another try from CH&FC. This time it was the experienced Hirantha Perera who showed his pace down the touch line. Samuel added the extras. The time was running but Navy wasn’t giving up as they replied with a converted try to bring down the deficit to just 5 points going into the final two minutes.

However, CH&FC managed to keep the ball in their attacking half and the Navy’s desperation caused them to conceded a penalty inside their 22. CH&FC camp without a doubt went to Samuel to shoot and he succeeded with ease to secure their win after a tough tussle.
