A total of 15 wickets fell for 300 runs as Trinity College, Kandy took firm control with some impressive all round performances against St. Peter’s College, in their under 19 inter-school cricket fixture which commenced at De Soysa grounds, Moratuwa yesterday.

St. Peter’s batting first, found it extremely difficult to face the Trinitian attack led by Raveen Sayer as they were crumbled out for a paltry 159.  Sayer, former Sri Lanka U-17 cap captured four for 42 runs as he along with Pramodya Abeykoon and Amrith Sirimahan rattled the Peterite’s innings in the 58th over.

Abeykoon claimed two for 33 runs while Srimahan captured two for 46 runs.  

Kavinda de Tisera played a resilient innings, hitting an impressive 71 to help St. Peter’s reach a respectable total.

Trinity in their first innings were 141 for the loss of five wickets, trailing by just 18 runs at close of day one with Kaveen Hiniduma scoring a well compiled 66 and Nushan Weerasinghe chipping in with 36.  Taneesh Weerakoon was the pick of the bowlers for St. Peter’s as he claimed three scalps for 29 runs.

Trinity: 142/5 in 37 overs (Kaveen Hiniduma 66, Nushan Weerasinghe 36, Taneesha Weerakoon 3/29)
