St. Thomas’ College Matara registered a stunning 197-run victory over Devapathiraja College Rathgama today at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.
St. Thomas’ College won the toss and scored 278/9 before they declared with Gisanthika Jayaweera unbeaten on 111. Complementing to Gisanthika’s brilliant century Mihisal Amoda too scored 77 runs for the hosts.
Devapathiraja, playing their first game after they were promoted to the top division last year were bowled out for 103.

The Thomians then scored 93 runs for their 2nd inning and declared the inning setting a target of 269 for Devapathiraja.
Sachira Rashmika then ran through the Devapathiraha inning claiming 5 wickets as they were all out for just 71 runs.

The traditional fixture between Maris Stella College Negambo and Thurstan College Colombo concluded today in a tame draw at Thurstan Main grounds in Colombo.
Resuming on their overnight score of 27/0 Thurstan were only allowed to face 12 overs on day 2 as the heavens opened up in Colombo.
The visiting Maristonians managed to pick 2 wickets during today’s short play as Thurstan were struggling at 39/2 when paly stopped.
Maris Stella College scored a formidable 244 in 55.3 overs after being inserted to bat in their first innings, thanks to a superb 91 by Kevin Perera. In bowling for Thurstan, Ayesh Harshana was impressive grabbing 6 wickets for 84 runs.

The traditional fixture played at the University grounds in Peradeniya was also hit by bad weather as only 4.4 overs were bowled on day 2.
The home team, Kingswood College were bowled out for a mere 112 runs in the first inning after being put in to bat. Thanuka Perera’s fifer was instrumental in Wesley’s successful bowling effort.
In reply Wesley were struggling on 25/5 at stumps with Uthpala Jayalath claiming 3 wickets for the hosts.
