With just a few more months to go for the 2018/19 Dialog Club Rugby League to get underway, CH & FC have recruited another high-profile player to strengthen their squad.
Although there is a bit of controversy surrounding the participation and eligibility of CH & FC in the upcoming league, the Gymkhana club has signed up the former Captain of Havelock Sports Club, Jason Melder.
Despite being appointed as the Captain of the Park Club last year, Melder had a difficult season. He was forced out of some crucial games due to various injuries which resulted in him not getting enough game time.
The 2013 St. Joseph’s College Skipper, is a second-row forward who has already represented Sri Lanka on many occasions, starting from the 2013 Junior National team.
After turning out to be the surprise package last year, CH & FC is undoubtedly eyeing the League Title this season.
Melder now follows the path of his former skipper and teammates, Sudarshana Muthuthanthri, Sudam Sooriyaarachi, Nishon Perera and Hirantha Perera. With Yoshitha Rajapaksha leading from upfront and the balance of both the pack and line, CH will definitely be title contenders.
