Glenn Murray (Brighton)
Brighton came back from two goals down at home to Fulham to take a point thanks to a Glenn Murray brace. Murray has scored with two of his three efforts on target for Brighton and has now scored as many goals (8) at home as Harry Kane in 2018. Murray was pivotal in the Brighton attack and a constant threat throughout the match.
Southampton got their first win of the season with a 2-0 finish against Crystal Palace. Alex McCarthy, called up to the England squad this week, denied Christian Benteke from close range after an earlier save from Luka Milivojevic’s volley. The Saints’ goalkeeper produced six key saves to secure a hard-earned clean sheet.
Watford made it four out of four with a win over Tottenham. Jose Holebas, the provider of both goals with some precision crossings. Holebas and Roberto Pereyra continued to display excellent understanding down the left flank and broke down any Spurs’ attack from the wings.
Manchester City worked hard to beat Newcastle 2-1 at the Etihad. David Silva once again was in the heart of City attacks. Everything City created went through the Spaniard who had 88% completion of his passes.
Alexsandre Lacazette (Arsenal)
Arsenal were still not convincing despite a 3-2 win over Cardiff City. This was a game for the attackers and Lacazette provided the moments of quality that mattered. The French striker scored the winner, assisted the second and might have scored in the first half when his shot hit the inside of the post.
