Maleesha scores a Ton
St. Sylvester’s batsman Maleesha Silva’s spirited innings guided them to a draw as he stood unbeaten on 101, and Vidudara Madurasinghe a supporting role of 31 runs were the only two batsman to get among the runs as the rest failed against a spectacular bowling performance by Asitha Wanninayake.
Batting second St. Anthony’s College maintained a steady run rate to reach the set target, but due to torrential rains and a delayed start the Anthonians were stranded on 123/5 at the end of the day with Anjala Bandara unbeaten on 54.

Kavishan’s all-round performance too good for Rajans
After winning the toss and deciding to field first, the Cambrian bowlers put up a fine performance with the ball thanks to Kunchana Perera and Thanuja Kavishan, the pair sharing six wickets between them. Thamindu Indrarathna was the only Dharmaraja batsman to show some fight, scoring the bulk of the runs for his team with 46 runs.
With the light fading away and the clouds hovering over the ground, the Cambrian batsman scored at over ten runs an over within the first eight overs. The Rajans could not stop the flow of runs as Thanuja Kavishan continued his impressive match performance with the bat, to be unbeaten on 76.

St. Peter’s continue their dominance in the second round
The Peterites hosted Ibbagamuwa Central College in their own backyard as they looked to continue their winning streak. After winning the toss and deciding to field first the Peterite bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals. Wanuja Sahan was the most successful Peterite bowler of the day with figures of 4/26. Dilshan Jayadewa top scored for Ibbagamuwa Central College with 23.
The Peterite batsman was aggressive scoring runs freely, and three of their batsman going on to score half centuries. St. Peter’s College ended the day on 273 for the loss of six wickets. Manuja Ratnayake ended up with 2/82 for Ibbagamuwa Central College.

Thurstan College settles for a draw
A delayed start meant getting a result was a tough ask for both teams. At one point it looked like Thurstan might bat all day. But Dharmapala had other ideas and were able to restrict them to 178/9. Kottawa Dharmapala College boys came into bat looking to go pass the target. But as time were running out the umpires called the close of play with Kottawa Dharmapala on 82 for the loss of 3 wickets. Malindu Themila top scored with an unbeaten 40.

Tissa Central College holds their nerve
Dasis Manchanayake continued his prolific form with the bat together with Sanka Dayaratne’s to guide Royal College to 238. Sharin de Silva and Uresh Salagadu picked up two wickets each for Tissa Central College.
After a good batting performance from the Reid avenue boys, it was the bowlers turn to get into the action. Kaththagoda, Hansaja and Dayaratha caused headaches to the Tissa batsman thanks to some good bowling changes. But a courageous Tissa Central College tail was able to enforce a draw with a spirited batting performance at the end.

Tame draw in Wattala
Put into bat first De Mazenod College were able to go pass the two hundred run mark thanks to half centuries by Ashen Silva and Ruwin Fonseka. Dimsara Kandage and Manuja Dulneth shared six wickets between them as De Mazenod declared at 225 for the loss of eight wickets.
The Rahula College batsman took a more defensive approach when they came out to bat, scoring only 133 for the loss of 4 wickets in sixty overs. Ruvinda Dilshan was unbeaten on 41 while Vidusha Rashmika scored 27 runs.
