India U19 today won the 2nd and last Youth Test against Sri Lanka U19 played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota by an innings and 147 runs. Today was the 4th and last day of the match. With this win the visitors complete a 2-0 series victory.
Sri Lanka U19 following on their 2nd inning were on 47 for the loss of 3 wickets. The Indians didn’t take much time to claim the remaining 7 wickets as their pace bowler Yatin Mangwani dismissed night-watchman Kalhara Senaratne (3) early in the day.

Siddharth Desai then came into the act as he took 4 out of the remaining 6 wickets to hand his team an emphatic victory. He dismissed centurion in the 1st inning Pasindu Sooriyabandara (10), Lankan 2nd Inning’s highest run-scorer Nuwanidu Fernando (28), Sonal Dinusha (11) who scored a half-century in the 1st inning and fast-bowler Nipun Malinga.
All-rounder Sandun Mendis (26) and leg-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth (16) chipped in with some short-lived innings, which eventually was not enough to prevent the innings defeat.
The 2 teams will now play 5 Youth ODIs. The 1st Youth ODI is scheduled to be played on the 30th of July at the P. Sara Oval Colombo.
