As a result of a meeting that took place after the School’s Rugby League came to a standstill following a spate of brawls, the Minister of Sports Faizer Mustapha has instructed the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) to enact strict regulations with regard to the consumption of alcohol during schools rugby games.

The unrest that took place last week saw the league coming to a halt with the Minister shutting down proceedings indefinitely. In the consequential discussions between the principals and the stakeholders, as a solution to the periodical scuffles a decision has been reached not entertain any persons with alcohol or under the influence of alcohol inside the grounds.

He also advised the respective principals to be vigilant when handling fans and has strictly advised them to restrict access to any individual who could cause chaos on the rugby field.
