Rayyan Talons Smash 2018 a major success

On Friday 4th May 2018 SACKOBA Q held the inaugural, much anticipated “Rayyan Talons Smash 2018” Badminton Tournament at Al Attiya Arena – Doha. The sports jewel of Doha.

The Tournament began at 2 pm under 6 different categories. from the start, nearly a thousand spectators were gathered to catch the live, action-packed tournament from Al-Attiya arena. The Tournament brought together Sri Lankan racquet sports enthusiasts. Keeping the promise “Something for all” the tournament was accompanied by DJ music, Zumba dance session, food corner, Kids activities by McDonalds and distributed more than 15000 riyals worth of giveaways.

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Qatar H.E Mr. A.S.P. Liyanage and Minister Counsellor/Deputy Ambassador Ratnasingam Kohula Rangan graced the occasion. Mr. Kumudu Fonseka, Chairman, Stafford Sri Lankan School,
Mr. Balakrishnan Pirathapan, Country Manager of Sri Lankan Airlines, Mr.  Colin Smith, CEO, Mr. Andre Vermeulen, CFO and Ms. Nancy Brooks, marketing head of Rayyan Water, Mr. Sudarshana Wijesundara of McDonalds and Mr. Shameem Haznain, HR manager, Sports Corner, amongst the other distinguished guests, were present at the occasion.

The official event souvenir was launched by the Sri Lankan ambassador.

* Men’s Under-35 Doubles: Winner: Joseph Niroj Kumar Britto & Umanga Basnayake;Runners Up: Dinesh Jayalath & Ramitha Kariyawasam
* Men’s Over-35: Winner: Dinesh Jayalath; Runners Up: Christopher
* Men’s Over-35 Doubles: Champion: Christopher & Rajeeva Liyanage; Runners Up: Mohamed Sakir & Watuthanthrige Neroshan Krishantha
* Mixed Doubles Open: Winner: Neroshan Krishantha & W. Omaya Kavinda De Alwis; Runners Up: Veronica Srimalee Perera & Asanka Fernando
* Kids Open: Winner: Mohamed Ubaidurrahman Mohideen; Runners Up: Tuan Simark Semidon.
