The third day of the Mercantile Services Basketball Association Knockout tournament ended with two more teams bidding farewell while the other two advanced for another round of matches. UB Finance took on Ceylon Tobacco in the first match while the second match was played between Union Bank and Ranawana Securities.
The first match ended handing an easy win to UB Finance who beat Ceylon Tobacco, 50-26. It was a close tussle in the first half where Ceylon Tobacco trailed the game only by 08 points. But going into the second quarter UB Finance took on the opposition at full throttle which left them with no chance to get back into the game.
Hansaka Rajasinghe top scored for UB Finance with 25 points while Manishka Kulasuriya added 06 points. Jude Fernando chipped in with 05 points. Inam Ameen starred for Ceylon Tobacco with a dozen points while Shannan Cruse added 08 points.

The second match of the day witnessed some spectacular basketball played by both ends as the half time score left the teams on equal ground, 27 all. It was a well fought battle by both teams till the final whistle but at the full-time mark Ranawana Securities were ahead by four points, 52-48.
For Union Bank, Kenneth Wickramasinghe topped the list with 16 points while Clifford Shenal supported gallantly with another 15 points. From the Ranawana Securities end Abidaran Sunderamoorthi scored 12 points and Dilan Perera scored 11 points.
