Trinity College Kandy managed to win the Canon De Saram tophy amidst a muddy battle at Pallekele against…
The clash that was set to kick off at 4.15 p.m. was brought forward following the bad light conditions and the prevalent weather after referee Aaqil Jamaldeen consulted the two teams and the match commissioner.
Speaking to ThePapare, referee Jamaldeen added the following with regard to yesterday’s game.
“I instructed the two teams and the match commissioner that due to the conditions and the bad light at 3.15 that we will start the game at 4.00 p.m.”
“The weather conditions were suitable for a match to be played but the ground markings were not visible for a game to be played. The try, 22m and the dead ball line was only seen marginally so a game could not be played”
The adverse weather took a toll on the ground but the game could have continued if the lines were re-marked but after much discussion, both teams came to a consensus and the game has been rescheduled to be played on the 10th of April 2018.
This will be the final game of the week before the league takes a respite for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
