The All Island Junior Ranking Table Tennis tournament concluded yesterday at the S. Thomas’ College indoor stadium. This tournament was organized by the Women’s Working Group Table Tennis Association to celebrate the International women’s day. The tournament was conducted in four age group categories, the U10,12,15 and U18 in both Girls and Boys.
Thamadhi Kavindhya of Devananda College, Chameesha Thushadhi of Kegalu Balika Vidyalaya, Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood College and Jithra Warnakulasuriya of Ladies College emerged the Girl’s category champions respectively from the lowest age group of U12 to the most senior age group of U18.
Kakeru Hennayake of Ananda College, Rasindu Jayasundara from Kingswood College, Senura Silva from Ananda College and Nimesh Ranchagoda of Royal College won their categories comprehensively in the boy’s category.
Nimesh Ranchagoda and Jithara Warnakulasuriya were crowned the most outstanding players in the Boys’ and Girls’ categories.
Mr. M.M.M. Laffeer, the President of the Veterans Table Tennis Association and Ms. Achini Samaraweera, President of the Leo Club of Nawala Metro were present as the chief guests to give away the awards for the most outstanding paddlers.
