St. Peter’s keep their hopes alive in the limited overs format

St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya defeated Thurstan College by 16 runs in their Singer U19 Limited Overs Cricket Tournament 2017/18 quarter-finals played today in Colombo.

The Peterite skipper Santhush Gunathilaka won the toss and elected to bat first on a sticky surface at St. Joseph’s grounds in Darley Road.

The Bamba brigade were struggling earlier on at 30 for 4 but Dinith Anjula and Ranmith Jayasena stroked valuable knocks to post 164 to try and stay alive in the game.

Chasing 165 to win, the Thurstan lads did not go according to plan as they crumbled for a hapless 148 giving St. Peter’s College a thrilling win and place in the semi-final.

Left-arm spinner Kanishka Maduwantha was the star with the ball  taking 4 for 32 in his crafty spell that won the game for the lads from Bambalapitiya.
