New look, new luck for Sri Lanka Golf

A significant day for the rebirth of Sri Lanka Golf, which coincides with the death anniversary of the legendary Sri Lankan Golfer – Pin Fernando, was marked in the presence of the Honourable Minister for Sports, Mr. Dayasiri Jayasekera, the CEO of UTE, Mr. Riyad Ismail, representing the main sponsor of the UTE Pin Fernando Grand Prix and ranking awards ceremony, the President of One Asia Mr. Kumar Krishna, by the unveiling of the new logo of Sri Lanka Golf by Priath Fernando, President of the Sri Lanka Golf Union.

The UTE Pin Fernando Grand Prix was initiated by the family of Pin Fernando in his memory, mainly to give an opportunity to all potential golfers to participate in monthly tournaments and gain vital match experience. Previously, there was only the Sri Lanka Open which showcased the talent of the caddies who learnt and practiced golf entirely in their spare time. The family company of Pin Fernando, UTE, took over the sponsorship of this event from 2017. UTE has also recently become a Strategic Partner of Sri Lanka Golf.

Also present were Sri Lanka’s golfing heroes, the Professional Golfers, Anura Rohana, Mithun Perera and new Pro on the block Thangaraja, all of whom are fresh from their recent victories on the Professional Golf Tour of India and Bangladesh. Guest of Honour and President of One Asia, Mr. Kumar Krishna said that he is looking forward to working with Sri Lanka Golf and will provide opportunities for the top Pros in Sri Lanka to make their mark in Asia. President of the SLGU, Priath Fernando has been offered a rare and elite position on the member board of One Asia and if he decided to accept the offer, a guaranteed spot for one player in all the One Asia  tournaments played year round will be up for grabs for the Sri Lankan Golfers.
