The Sri Lankan Rugby Referee Society distributed tabs to all A Grade Referees’ at a ceremony held at Royal College yesterday. The President of the Rugby Referees Society, Mr. Nizam Jamaldeen, gave away the Digital tabs handed over by Minister of Telecommunication, Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment Mr. Harin Fernando, in order to uphold the quality and the uplift the game of Rugby for the years to come.
Speaking to ThePapare.com Mr. Jamaldeen stated that the digital tabs will help and assist the referee’s educate themselves further and stay updated with the ongoing in the World of Rugby. The standards have recently been very good and the bar of performance has risen from the last few years and there are a vast number of young referees coming up the ranks who are doing very well in the field of rugby. This will be added motivation for them to do better and learn and stay updated.
SLRRS is the sole governing body for the referees in Sri Lanka and currently are involved with the Singer School’s Rugby tournament.
