Ragama CC recorded an impressive 8 wicket win over Navy SC in their opening game of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Major Limited Over Tournament today(11).
Part time leg spinner and former Sri Lanka Test cap Udara Jayasundara ripped through the Navy SC middle and lower order as he captured six wickets to bowl out Navy for just 185 runs.
The Sailors struggled to pick his googly and looked all at sea as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals, before they were eventually bowled out inside 45 overs. Kusal Edusuriya and Buddika Hasaranga were the only men to pass the 30 run mark while Shathik Nimalsha(27) added useful runs low down the order.
Jayasundara wasn’t done yet as he made an explosive 73 and put on 157 for the opening wicket with the stylish left hander Lahiru Milantha, who went on to make 88 runs off just 65 balls. After the dismissal of the openers, experienced batsmen Lahiru Thirimanne and Roshen Silva made sure there were no other hiccups as they guided Ragama CC to a resounding 8 wicket win.
