Team Sri Lanka’s ACFT 2018 journey ends as they lost to Team Nepal, two goals to nil in the quarter final clash on 8th March 2018, at Doha Stadium in Qatar. Both goals came in the second half of the game and the Nepalese dominated the entire match.

After a solid game against tournament favourites Jordan in the final group stage match, team Sri Lanka came into the game with the hope of booking a spot in the last four. However, the young lads in orange jersey failed to put up a competitive team effort against a more energetic Nepalese team who  showcased their best football skills throughout the game. Though the first half of the game was neck to neck, Nepal dominated the Sri Lankan half and had a few solid goal scoring opportunities which were not good enough to convert into a goal.

Nevertheless, Nepal continued their dominance in the second half and scored their first goal in the 37th minute, through a free kick which was taken a few steps away from the penalty box. Second goal came in the 51st minute with a solid cross from the left which was sent to the goal by the Nepal striker without a mistake. Later in the game Sri Lanka had a few chances including a free kick which was superbly saved by the Nepal goal keeper.
