Maliyadeva Balika was way too superior for the girls from Gateway Kandy as they drowned them 61 points to 16 at the end of the 4 quarters in the final of the U-15 Basketball tournament in the C division. This was the first time in two years a team was crowned champions since the previous two tournaments weren’t played.
The game started off well but Maliyadeva was a little too fast for the girls from Kandy. They extended their lead from the onset and Gateway had no reply what so ever and failed to score points regularly while missing simple chances to scores.
In the consolation final however it was again a one-sided game, CIS Kandy thumped HFC Wennapuwa with the game too ending 54 points to 23 points. The change in venues and the travelling from venues seemed to have taken a toll on the youngsters as the tournament was played at different venues.
All in all, Maliyadeva Girls Baskeball team who played well through-out the tournament won it with ease being unbeaten throughout the season.
