STC Junior Rugby Carnival this weekend
  1. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia(STC) will hold a Junior Rugby Carnival on Saturday 13th Januaryat the Racecourse Grounds.

The tournament will kick off at 9 am and is scheduled to be concluded at 4 pm in the evening. This year’s Carnival has been named the Quentin Israel Junior Rugby Carnival after the legendary STC coach Mr. Quentin Israel. The Rugby Carnival is being held for the second consecutive occasion with players from the age groups of U16, U14, U12 and U10 taking part in the Carnival.

STC Bandarawela, STC Guruthalawa and STC Prep School will be the invitational schools participating in the tournament. A total of 220 kids will take part in the tournament while the parents (Dads) will also play a tag rugger match during the tournament.

The director of Thomian Rugby Mr. Stefan De Silva speaking to ThePapare stated,

“STC Mount Lavinia is structuring and platforming rugby development for the next few years and the development of the skills and enthusiasm for rugby is very important to STC Mount Lavinia.

We place the safety and wellbeing of our junior and senior rugger players as the priority and the systematic development of the boy, in a safe and scientific way is the highest priority for the school.”
