Been asked to bat first the Moratu boys started their innings in a blistering fashion as they ended the first session on 185 for 1 wicket.
Nishitha Abilash was the hero as he stroked a classy century, while he was ably supported by his opening partner Shanel Fernando 87.
The declaration came as the scoreboard showed 334 inside the 73rd over for the visitors. The lanky off-spinner Ashen Daniel toiled hard for his four wickets for the hosts. In reply the Josephians managed to end the day at 110 for 2 wickets with right-hander Johanne De Zilva making a solid half-ton.

27 wickets fell in seamer friendly conditions in the group B encounter which began today in Wattala. Been asked to bat first Isipathana crumbled for a hapless 86 in just 31 overs. Two seamers from Wattala bamboozled the lads from Havelocks with wiry spells as both Avishka Tharindu and Sanil Vidusha claimed four wickets apiece. In reply, the hosts got bowled out for 99, registering first innings points. However, Isipathana batted again and failed again, losing 7 wickets in the second innings for 80 runs with only 67-run lead going to the second day.
